Au moins un des 60 colons enlevés en 1689 est revenu de captivité, près de 10 ans après les faits. Il s'agit de Pierre Gautier Saguingoira. Lui et son épouse Charlotte Roussel sont enlevés par les Iroquois et sont longtemps donnés pour morts. Toutefois, un document de janvier 1698 décrit Pierre Gauthier comme "captif chez les iroquois nos ennemis". Nous ignorons la date exacte de sa libération, mais il signe comme témoin au mariage de son fils Joseph en août 1699. Elle fut capturée par les iroquois le 6 août 1689 lors du Massacre de Lachine. Elle est décédée en captivité. Sa dépouille fut retournée à son mari le 22 janvier 1698. (R. Levac)
