    At age five, he moved with his family to Biddeford, Maine, then to Rocky Hill, Connecticut around 1927. In 1936, Gustave was living with his parents at 865 Broad Street in Hartford, Connecticut and worked for the Underwood Typewriter Company in Hartford as a typewriter straightener.
    In 1937, Gustave lived at 164 Oak Street in Hartford, Connecticut. Gustave and Dora purchased a plot of land in South Windsor, Connecticut in 1941 and lived in a shack on the property while Gustave and his in-laws built the house that stands at 782 Pleasant Valley Road in South Windsor, Connecticut. Gustave worked as a tool sharpener in his own business before going to work for Colt Firearms in Hartford. He retired from Colt in 1981.

She was married six weeks after her sister Jeanne from whom she borrowed her wedding dress.

Around 1927, he moved to Rocky Hill, Connecticut then to Hartford, Connecticut where he lived at 865 Broad Street. Paul worked as a molder for the Reading, Pratt & Cody Company in Hartford. Unable to read or write at that time, his children convinced him to change his name to Paul from Napoléon and taught him how to write it. Paul and Rose-Anna bought their first house at 807 Pleasant Valley Road in South Windsor, Connecticut in 1942.
