    Pierre THIBAUDEAU acquiert en cette année 1654, une large concession de terre "dans-le-haut de la rivière du Dauphin", près de Port-Royal. L'endroit porte le nom de la Pré-Ronde ou "Village des THIBEAUDEAU". Il est situé à dix kilomètres de l'embouchure de la Rivière Port-Royal, au coeur de la vallée du même nom. Le site est connu aujourd'hui comme Round Hill, Nouvelle-Écosse. Cette terre serait un des premiers endroits en Amérique du Nord, occupés de façon continue par des familles d'origine française. Il y installe une maison avec des bâtiments de ferme et un moulin à blé et à planches, actionné par un proche cours d'eau dit "Des-Loups-Marins". Le titre de meunier de la Pré-Ronde fait sa renommée.

    Il vint en Acadie en 1654, avec Emmanuel Le Borgne, sieur du Coudray, marchand de La Rochelle, qui vient ravitailler la colonie, dans laquelle il a des intérêts commerciaux. Le Châteaufort, armé en guerre, mis à la disposition de Le Borgne par son associé, le duc de Vendôme, part de La Rochelle le 25 mars 1654. Il porte à son bord quelques nouveaux colons, dont Pierre Vincent et Michel Richard, laboureurs, et Pierre Thibodeau, meunier. Il est en outre chargé de provisions, d'armes et de munitions, dont la valeur s'élève à 75000 livres (15000$). Le voilier de 300 tonneaux arrive à Port-Royal à la mi-mai 1654."
