  1. 1.  Louis DURAND was born on 13 Nov 1670 in Sillery, Qc.

    Notes:

    Louis was the third child of Jean Durand and Catherine Annennotak. His father died in 1671 when he was less than one year old. He was then raised by his mother & stepfather, Jacques Coutourier.

    Louis was a voyageur with his brother Ignace & half brothers, Charles & Mathurn. He traded beyond the trading posts of Sault Ste Marie & was probably in the Wisconsin-Minnesota region (land of the Sioux) prior to 1700. Louis married Elizabeth-Agnes Michel in 1698 in Quebec. His son Louis was born on 13 Aug 1700 in Quebec. The familty then moved across the St. Lawrence to St. Nicolas de Tilly where Elizabeth had nine other children. Elizabeth died in 1718. Louis then married Jeanne Houde in 1719
    at St. Nicolas de Tilly. This was her third marriage. She & Louis had four children.

    Louis moved from St. Nicholas to Lavaltrie/Lanoraie, south of Three Rivers & Sorrel, before 1724. Most of his children married in the Lavaltrie area & Established their families there. Louis died between 1738 & 1741. His second wife, Jeanne Houde, died on April 5, 1749 at Lavaltrie.

    Louis married Élisabeth-Agnès MICHEL on 9 Sep 1698 in Sillery, Qc. Élisabeth-Agnès (daughter of Olivier MICHEL-TAILLON and Madeleine CAUCHON) died on 12 May 1718 in St-Nicolas-de-Tilly, Qc. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
