Herve lived in Holyoke until 1918, when his family moved to a farm located four miles south of St. Victor, Saskatchewan. There, he worked as a farmer until his retirement in 1973.
He contributed much to his community as a councillor for the rural municipality, a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool delegate, a member of the Knights of Columbus (Lisieux), chair of the St. Victor Regional Park Board, mayor of St. Victor, and in many other ways.
He moved to Melville in 2002.
